Inter Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello has been elected to the European Club Association executive board, leading to a strategic repositioning of the Nerazzurri among Europe’s elite clubs.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who argue that the move could give the Nerazzurri more power within the organization by signalling their commitment after they had taken part in the attempt to establish a Super League in April.

Antonello joins the board after having been officially elected yesterday alongside Atletico Madrid CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin and Tottenham Hotspur President, and represents a strategic repositioning amongst Europe’s top clubs.

Antonello joins the board rather than Nerazzurri President Steven Zhang, with the aim being to have the club represented in the organization by someone involved in the operational side of the club.

The likes of European giants Juventus, Barcelona, and Real Madrid remain outside the ECA as they are still committed to the Super League venture, whilst the Nerazzurri as well as fellow Serie A club and city rivals AC Milan, and all the other clubs involved, have been brought back into the fold.
