Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi could start the Nerazzurri’s first match back from the international break, with manager Simone Inzaghi potentially set to play the 26-year-old as an attacking midfielder against Sampdoria this weekend.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the Nerazzurri could line up in a 3-5-1-1 formation with Sensi behind Edin Dzeko as they did against Genoa on the opening day of the season.
Argentine forwards Lautaro Martinez and Joaquin Correa are unlikely to be ready to start against Sampdoria, with the pair returning from international duty late, while Alexis Sanchez is only just coming back from injury.
This selection dilemma could mean that Inzaghi finds Sensi the most suitable candidate to start during the Nerazzurri’s trip to the Marassi, with the midfielder likely to be fully fit despite having suffered a minor injury during the international break, and the formation used against Sampdoria’s city rivals could be reprised.
