Inter are preparing to make Nicolo Barella the club’s captain as part of the new contract they are readying for the midfielder, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported today by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the next job for Inter to tackle after the renewal of Lautaro Martinez is the new contract for Nicolo Barella, who has become one of the most important parts of the Nerazzurri setup.

The contract he will be offered will keep him with the club until at least 2026 and will see him earn almost €5 million a season, a figure that includes potential bonuses.

This means he will not be one of the highest earners at the club despite the plans to hand him the captaincy.

Providing the Sardinian remains at the club and plays at this level, he would likely be offered a more lucrative deal before 2026 to keep him at the club even longer.
