Inter defender Federico Dimarco is happy with his performance in his first start for his boyhood club, even if he feels disappointed that the Nerazzurri were not able to win the match.
Speaking to Inter TV, as reported by FCInter1908, the 23-year-old opened up about his feeling after the 2-2 draw with Sampdoria at the Marassi, a match in which he found the back of the net for the first time in an Inter shirt.
Dimarco started the match in place of the injured Alessandro Bastoni, and he showed that he did not look out of place in the senior squad, capping off a mature display with an excellent free kick to open the scoring early on in the match.
Dimarco was elated to have played from the start and helped his boyhood club to achieve an important point in difficult circumstances, even if the draw after twice taking the lead was a source of disappointment.
“It was an indescribable feeling to score the first goal in this shirt,” he said. “I’m only sorry for the result because we could have taken home a win. We had two clear chances, sorry for that.”
He went on, “I don’t know what was missing, we just had to score. I feel excited to face Real Madrid, we have to prepare well over the next few days and try to play at our best to start well in the Champions League.”
