Inter defender Milan Skriniar wants the Nerazzurri to show their best form against Sampdoria in this afternoon’s Serie A clash, and to confirm their status as the top team in the Italian top flight.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, as reported by FCInter1908, the Slovak centre-back brushed off any suggestions that the team could settle for anything less than their best despite the difficulties of returning from the international break.

Inter made a perfect start to the season before the international break began, winning their first two games despite a difficult summer, but the pressure is back on them to continue their bright start away at the Marassi.

Sampdoria will not be straightforward opposition for the Nerazzurri, but Skriniar is confident in he and his teammates’ capacity to show their best qualities and continue as they left off before the break, regardless of the interruption caused by the international fixtures.

“It’s a bit difficult because we haven’t trained for a while,” the 26-year-old said. “But we don’t want and we don’t look for excuses, we want to show on the pitch that we are strong team.”

“It’s always nice to come back,” Skriniar said of returning to face his old club in Sampdoria, “it’s a difficult stadium, I remember it from when I was playing here. You need a great performance to take away three points.”

Of Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella he said, “He’s a great striker with a lot of experience and we must be careful and try to stop him.”
