Inter are frustrated after defender Alessandro Bastoni picked up a thigh injury on international duty which will rule him out of today’s Serie A clash with Sampdoria and puts him at risk for this week’s Champions League group stage opener against Real Madrid.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are irritated with the national team after he played the full ninety minutes against Lithuania leading to the injury.

Bastoni had reportedly been dealing with a bruise to his right leg on the eve of the match against Lithuania, but gave the ok to start the match and ended up playing the full ninety minutes.

The minor thigh injury which the 22-year-old is currently dealing with was likely caused by overcompensating due to the knock to the right knee.

The Nerazzurri feel that the current thigh problem could have been avoided, and are frustrated as it jeopardizes the availability of a key member of their starting eleven ahead of the vital Real Madrid match.
