Legendary former Juventus defender Ciro Ferrar has heaped praise on Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella after the 24-year-old’s assist for Lautaro Martinez’s goal against Sampdoria.

Speaking to DAZN after the Nerazzurri’s 2-2 draw at the Marassi earlier today, as reported by FCInter1908, the 54-year-old gave the midfielder much of the credit for creating the goal which made the match 2-1 towards the end of the first half.

Inter had taken the lead early in the match through a Federico Dimarco free kick before being pegged back when Sampdoria defender’s strike took a deflection off Edin Dzeko following a failure to clear a corner.

Towards the end of the half Hakan Calhanoglu won the ball off Sampdoria’s Mikkel Damsgaard, finding Barella who took it in stride and got past several Sampdoria defenders before finding the on-rushing Martinez who volleyed his pass first-time and made the score 2-1, though in the end the match only finished in a draw for the Nerazzurri.

“Barella has made three assists in three games,” Ferrara stressed, “today with an amazing run. He is a fundamental player.”

On Martinez’s performance he said, “If he didn’t see much of the ball, it is because he was served little by his teammates, but he played well . He showed that he was already past his jet lag with that goal.”
