Sampdoria head coach Roberto D’Aversa praised the quality shown by his team and by their opponents after they came back from a goal down twice to earn a point against Inter at the Marassi.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the Italian tactician stated that he feels happy with how his team played in a match where the Nerazzurri made them work hard to take a point away.

Inter took the lead first through a Federico Dimarco free kick and then through a Lautaro Martinez volley from a strong Nicolo Barella run, but on both occasions Sampdoria found a response, and after the home side scored their second equalizer early in the second half neither side was able to break the deadlock again.

Neither side will feel totally satisfied with the result in the end, but as D’Aversa emphasizes, Sampdoria will see it as a satisfactory day at the office against a tough opponent.

“I think that from the point of view of our performance we are satisfied,” he said. “Bravo Dimarco, we went down twice and recovering against Inter is not easy.”

“A draw was the right result,” the coach reflection “indeed perhaps we even deserved something more. Caputo and Quagliarella are two strong and complete players. Overall the whole team did well, it is important to put in these performances.”

He went on, “We have to keep working. The team’s centre of gravity is determined by the players. We try to adjust in the games in attack. Damsgaard played more inside today, he didn’t play at his best having played in the national team.”

“He has to improve in some respects, he must not lose the ball in midfield. He is very strong, he will recover his best over time. The forwards got fewer attempts on goal, but they played well in the channels and in the final third. We need to give them more service,” he concluded.
