Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale will be absent through injury when Inter face the Merengues on Wednesday in their Champions League group stage opener.

This according to Spanish news outlet Marca, who report that the Welshman is dealing with a minor knock to his right thigh flexors which will rule him out of tomorrow’s Champions League fixture at the San Siro.

Bale, who has made several appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side since his return from a loan with Tottenham Hostpur last season, has suffered with a number of minor injuries over the past several seasons, and he looks to be out once again.

The issue is not thought to be too serious, but it will definitely be enough to see the 32-year-old miss Wednesday’s match.

Real still have a strong complement of attacking players available to them for the match, but Ancelotti will have to do without Bale as he looks to get off to a strong start in this year’s Champions League.
