Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter put in a strong and praiseworthy display against Sampdoria at the Marassi yesterday despite only taking away a point from the match.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the Serie A clash, Sconcerti gave his views on the match and on the Nerazzurri’s performance, suggesting that a draw is not a bad result against a good Sampdoria team though there were problems evident for Inter.

Inter’s perfect start to the season came to an end yesterday, with the 2-2 draw against Roberto D’Aversa’s men representing their first dropped points of the season.

Many will see the draw as a disappointing result given that the Nerazzurri will be hoping to keep pace at the top of the table, but the match was also played in difficult circumstances with many players still fatigued from the international break.

Sconcerti did not think that the Nerazzurri’s display gave cause for alarm, all things considered.

“Milan also struggled with Sampdoria,” he pointed out. “I saw a good Inter – I would not give much importance to this result, an away draw is fine. They have the same points total as a year ago.”

He went on, “I saw them concede two goals, an exceptional one, that of Augello, and a lucky one. I saw Lautaro very much in the game. The international break didn’t imply fatigue, it implies not training for two weeks. But after seeing him play, this is not the concern.”

“It seems to me that Inter are a bit short in midfield because Sensi is not reliable, Vidal is Vidal, and Vecino has not played much for a year,” he went on.

On referee Daniele Orsato, Sconcerti said that “The problem is not how he refereed, I would like to know how he went  thousand days without refereeing Inter. It is scandalous that there has been an referee who has not refereed a club for three years.”
