Former Fiorentina midfielder Antonio Di Gennaro believes that Inter have a strong defense and that they also have the attacking balance to compete for the Scudetto.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio after the Nerazzurri’s match against Sampdoria on Sunday, as reported by FCInterNews, the former midfielder gave his impression of the team under coach Simone Inzaghi.

Inter were only able to take a point away from the Marassi over the weekend, having surrendered the lead twice in a match which finished 2-2 on the back of some moments of individual brilliance from both teams.

The Nerazzurri’s perfect start to the season came to an end in a fixture which did not see them looking at their best, but Di Gennaro does not believe that there is cause for alarm, still considering the team to be very strong at both ends of the pitch with plenty left to show over the course of the season.

“A draw is a fair result,” he said of the weekend’s clash. “I don’t think they have defensive problem, they have the right balance. I still consider them among of the favourites for the Scudetto.”

“I believe that the three strikers can play together in some games,” DI Gennaro went on, “Correa knows how to connect Dzeko and Lautaro’s game. Then you need to have men in the penalty area and these three give great attacking threat.”

“Lukaku was unique,” he said of the departed striker, “we need alternatives to him in the game. They drew, but that is not a bad result. It is not possible that there are already problems, when until a few weeks ago it was not the case.”
