Midfielder Arturo Vidal could start for Inter in place of Hakan Calhanoglu in tomorrow’s Champions League opener against Real Madrid at the San Siro.

This according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, who report that the Chilean is in contention to start the clash with Real.

Simone Inzaghi could have a selection dilemma on his hands, with Vidal’s form coming off the bench during the Nerazzuri’s first three Serie A games putting him into the Nerazzurri manager’s thinking.

The 34-year-old had been linked with a move away from the club over the summer, but he made clear his desire to stay and prove that he can still contribute in an Inter shirt, and his performances have suggested that he is still capable of putting in strong displays.

Vidal was sent off the last time Inter and Real met, in the group of last year’s competition when the Nerazzurri were eliminated finishing bottom of their group, and the midfielder could feel that he has something to prove to his club.
