Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has re-affirmed his confidence in his abilities amid criticism aimed at him for some errors.

Speaking to Amazon Prime, as reported by FCInter1908, the Slovenian expressed confidence ahead of the Nerazzurri’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid and hit out at his critics.

Handanovic is captain of the Nerazzurri having been the undisputed first-choice starter in goal since joining from Udinese in the summer of 2012.

However, the 37-year-old has made a few high profile errors in the past couple seasons, leading some to question whether he is still capable of filling the Number One role at a satisfactory level for a club of Inter’s ambitions, especially given reports that the club are in search of a replacement imminently.

However, Handanovic does not yet believe that he is finished with the Nerazzurri and considers the criticism aimed at him to be misguided.

On this evening’s match against Real at the San Siro he said, “We must play our game, with respect to Real and their history.”

“We also saw last year how difficult they are to come up against,” he went on, “they are always strong but we have to think about ourselves and do what we do well. I expect a very balanced game.”

On the criticism he has recently received the Slovenian said that “A lot of dogs bark in the street, but I don’t start throwing stones at all the dogs barking in the street.”
