Inter President Steven Zhang spoke to the Nerazzurri squad for ten minutes yesterday to emphasize the importance of a good showing in this season’s edition of the Champions League.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the President made clear that one of the main priorities this season will be progressing to the knockout rounds of Europe’s top competition.

Zhang, who is currently in China, spoke to the group via a video call, with the entire squad gathered in a room usually reserved for match analysis alongside manager Simone Inzaghi, CEO Beppe Marotta, and Sporting Director Piero Ausilio.

The President spoke about how in his time in charge of the club, progression past the group stage of the Champions League has proved elusive, with the club having been knocked out from their group at the last three times of asking.

Zhang made clear that this is not good enough and spoke about the importance of doing better this time around.
