Italian journalist Massimo Mauro believes that Inter manager Simone Inzaghi is a top coach and deserves to be given respect as Nerazzurri manager.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, as reported by FCInter1908, the journalist suggested that the 45-year-old has already stepped out from the shadow of Antonio Conte and should be seen as such.

Conte’s departure at the beginning of the summer rocked the Nerazzurri, but they quickly went to work in bringing in a well-regarded coach in the form of ex-Lazio boss Inzaghi.

The Italian tactician had earned wide praise for his work while in charge of the Biancocelesti, and early signs are that he is up to the task at Inter.

Mauro believes that Inzaghi deserves respect for the work that he has already done in his career, and that he should not simply be seen as following in the footsteps of his predecessor Conte.

“Inzaghi on is the bench who is working with this team,” he explained. “He is a coach who did very well at Lazio, he deserves  to be respected. There is still talk of Conte who is no longer at the club.”

He reinforced the point that this Nerazzurri side is not the same as Conte’s, stating that “This is Inzaghi’s Inter.”
