Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Roberto De Zerbi believes that the Ukrainian side can beat Inter as well as Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage this season.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of Shakhtar’s match with Sheriff Tiraspol tomorrow, as reported by FCInter1908, the Italian tactician gave the view that his team are capable of getting upset results against the favourites in the group.

Inter will encounter in Real and Shakhtar two of the teams they faced in last year’s edition of the Champions League group stage, with new boys Sheriff taking the place of Borussia Monchengladbach.

Former Sassuolo boss De Zerbi is confident in the qualities which Shakhtar possesses, and he does not feel as though they should fear the more established sides in the group.

Shakhtar managed to get two draws against the Nerazzurri last season while beating the Merengues in both of their matches, and their manager believes that they can once against put in a good showing in Europe’s top competition.

“I don’t care whether Inter or Real Madrid are favourites against us. Shakhtar can lose to anyone but I’m also sure we can beat anyone. We have to think about ourselves, we know how to properly prepare for these matches.”
