Inter can take some very important positives from the defeat at home to Real Madrid on Wednesday night in the Champions League, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported in La Repubblica today, Inter looked genuinely capable of beating a European heavyweight in the Champions League on Wednesday, which is a position the club has not been in for many years.

Last year’s campaign saw Inter finish bottom of their group without ever showing too much promise of qualifying.

This year Inter have a slightly easier group to try and navigate as Shakhtar Donetsk do not look as strong as last time, and FC Sheriff are not as strong as Borussia Monchengladbach were last year.

Inter were by far the better of the two teams in the first half at the San Siro but ultimately couldn’t make the breakthrough. Rodrygo won the game late on for Real Madrid.
