An Italian journalist has suggested that Inter did not deserve to lose their opening Champions League game against Real Madrid, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking in the studio of Sky Sport, as reported by FcINternews, Paolo Condo explained that Inter were so dominant in the first half of the Champions League group game that they did not deserve to lose.

“Inter did not deserve to lose, they dominated the first half and they missed so many chances.”

Paolo Condo then later suggested that the second half performance of Real Madrid meant a draw would have been the fairer result, as they grew into the game and Inter began to lose their intensity.

“Real Madrid came out more in the second half, a draw was the right result at that stage. There were many missed chances, and the match was resolved by a team goal.

“There was too many mistakes in the penalty area from Inter.”

Inter fans had to watch as their team created numerous excellent opportunities in the first half, only to see Real Madrid’s Belgian goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, save every single one.

The substitutions then took the edge off of Inter’s attacking play and it was Rodrygo who scored to snatch the points for Real Madrid.
