Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has praised Inter’s performance against his team on Wednesday night in which he was Los Blancos’ best player, according to a report in the Spanish print media.

Speaking during an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais, Thibaut Courtois explained that Inter were putting Real Madrid under serious pressure, particularly in the first half. The Spanish side found it hard to cope with the numbers the Nerazzurri had in the middle of the park.

“In defence we didn’t feel good under pressure. They always had someone free in the middle.

“They put us in trouble in the first half. The second half was a bit better and they created less danger.”

Thibaut Courtois made a string of excellent saves in the first half that left Inter fans frustrated. The Nerazzurri created numerous opportunities to take the lead but the Belgian was always in the way.

He made a save from an Edin Dzeko effort from very close range that was the pick of the bunch.

“The save on Dzeko? I am two meters tall and it is not easy to get down there. It is good that they see that it is not easy to score a goal against us.”

Real Madrid managed to win the game in the 89th minute thanks to a goal from Brazilian youngster Rodrygo.
