Former Lazio and England national team manager Sven-Goran Eriksson believes that Inter wont be able to repeat the feat of winning the Serie A this season.

Speaking to The Italian Football Podcast the former Lazio, Sampdoria, Roma and Fiorentina manager stated that the Nerazzurri will be one of the team to fight for the Scudetto but that in the end AC Milan will come out on top.

“I think on paper Inter are one of the favorites to win the Serie A this season but they have lost very important players and it’s not easy to replace them.

“Juventus lost Cristiano Ronaldo too. AC Milan look very strong, and they almost defeated Liverpool in the Champions League.

“I think AC Milan will win, Inter will finish second then Juventus third and one of the Rome clubs will finish fourth.”

The former Biancocelesti coach praised his former player Simone Inzaghi for the work he did at Lazio as a coach but added that the players Inter have lost will undoubtedly affect their chances to repeat the Scudetto triumph.

“I didn’t expect Simone Inzaghi to be a great coach but he was very young when I had him so he was not ready then to take a big step like the one he has taken.

“But I must say the work he did at Lazio is very good for many many years. Lazio is not a team that invests a lot of money to win the league, but they were close with him and he did a great job there.

“Now, he has taken a big,big step up where the pressure is higher. Where winning is normal. At Inter, AC Milan and Juventus you are expected to win every year and when you don’t do that it is considered a failure.”

Sven-Goran Eriksson was the manager of Lazio for three and a half years between June 1997 and January 2001 where he guided the club to eight titles including one Serie A title, one Cup Winners Cup as well as the final of the UEFA Cup in 1998, losing to Inter.
