Lens full-back Jonathan Clauss has pinpointed Inter’s Denzel Dumfries as one of the players he admires most in his position, according to a report in the French media.

Whilst speaking to the official Ligue 1 website, Jonathan Clauss explained the players that he thinks are the best in his position, which is right back.

Inter fans will be pleased to see that Denzel Dumfries is one of the players that he was most impressed by at the UEFA European Championships this summer.

“During the European Championships, I was impressed by the Dutchman, Denzel Dumfries. This guy is incredible, he attacks, defends and is technically good.”

Jonathan Clauss also talked about the player that Denzel Dumfries replaced at Inter, which is Achraf Hakimi. The Lens man believes that the Dutchman and the Moroccan have a similar playing style.

“He has the same style as Achraf Hakimi, who remains deep when PSG defends and advances when they attack.

“Without throwing flowers on myself, I think I am a good full-back, and sometimes I come out of a game happy with myself, but when I see Hakimi, Dumfries or others, I tell myself that I am still far from what some are able to do.”

The other player that was mentioned by Jonathan Clauss was Brazilian right-back Dani Alves. The ex-Barcelona has been the pinnacle for right-backs for many years as he was part of an incredibly successful Barcelona side which won many trophies.

“I really liked Dani Alves at Barcelona: he played in a four-man defence but he advanced a lot in the non-possession phase when Sergio Busquets came back.”
