Inter put their frustrating defeat against Real Madrid during the week behind them with yesterday’s emphatic win against Bologna, which showed what they are capable of as an attacking force.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, who argue that the Nerazzurri were both streetwise and full of quality in their 6-1 rout of the Rossoblu at the San Siro.
Against Real in Wednesday’s Champions League group stage opener, the Nerazzurri played with attacking intent from virtually the first minute, creating a number of presentable goalscoring opportunities particularly during the first half.
However, the team were not able to make a single one of their chances decisive and failed to score, something which hadn’t happened in any of their Serie A matches, while Real made a last-minute opportunity telling to take all three points on a frustrating evening for Simone Inzaghi’s team.
Inter played with a similar attacking intensity in yesterday’s Serie A clash with Bologna, but where they had lacked a clinical edge against Carlo Ancelotti’s men, Sinisa Mihajlovic’s team were punished for nearly every mistake.
Five players got on the scoresheet for Inter against Bologna with substitute Edin Dzeko scoring an impressive brace to round off a display which showed that the Nerazzurri can convert their attacking intent into goals.
However, the Corriere highlight that sterner tests await in the form of Inter’s next two Serie A matches, against Fiorentina and Atalanta, which could give a better idea of whether the Nerazzurri can keep this momentum going.
