Former Inter Sporting Director believes that the Nerazzurri are the best-placed club to defend their Scudetto crown from last season and win Serie A.
Speaking to Naples-based regional broadcaster Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, the former director gave his view that the current Inter squad under coach Simone Inzaghi are the favourites to win this season’s edition of the Italian top flight.
Inter won last season’s Scudetto, their first title in eleven years, in emphatic fashion by finishing twelve points clear of their nearest rivals in the table.
However, a summer transfer window of upheaval means that this season’s Nerazzurri team looks quite different than last season’s not least in the fact that former head coach Antonio Conte has left to be replaced by ex-Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi.
However, nearly every club at the top of Serie A have experienced major changes over the summer, and Branca still believes that it is Inter who have the likeliest chance of coming out on top once again.
“I bet on Inter,” he said of the Scudetto race. “I think that the players available to coach Simone Inzaghi is very strong in the first-choice eleven, but also in the terms of the bench.”
He went on, “In a long and demanding season like this they will be fundamental. Behind the Nerazzurri, as often happens, I foresee at least one or two surprises. Inter are the great favourites to win the final.”
