Inter Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello has responded to claims by Fiorentina owner Rocco Commissio that the Nerazzurri do not follow the same rules as other clubs.

Speaking at the Facchetti Awards, as reported by FCInterNews, the CEO made clear that Inter make all attempts to be in compliance with league rules regarding liquidity, as all other clubs do.

Commisso has accused the Nerazzurri as well as fellow Serie A club Juventus of not playing by the same financial rules as other clubs in Italy, suggesting that they wield and unfair advantage in spending.

Antonello’s response to this has been to reaffirm the Nerazzurri’s commitment to being run in the right way and in full compliance with league regulations, and to suggest that owners should focus on their own teams rather than criticizing the Nerazzurri for how they’re run.

“I don’t want to respond to Commisso,” the CEO said, “everyone has to try to understand their own home and how to manage their own club. We have always respected the rules and we must try to remain united because it is a difficult time for Italian and European football.”

He went on, “This is not the time to make controversy, but to work together to have all fans in stadiums. We invite the authorities to open the stadiums 100% because football also needs fans to overcome this moment.”

On the possibility of increasing stadium capacity to 75% from half-capacity, he said that “Any action that is taken to improve the situation is welcomed with appreciation. After that it is clear that having all the fans being allowed in would be very helpful.”

On the proposed new San Siro he said, “With Mayor Sala we told ourselves that we would have to wait for the results of the elections. When there are, we will have updates.”

“Milan and Inter have always been side by side in this project, so [there is optimism]. We hope to restart the project shortly for the good not only of the clubs but also of the city in view of the 2026 Olympics,” he continued.

Of the Nerazzurri’s strong start to the season Antonello stated, “There must be optimism, the results are proving us right. We need to give time to the coach, who is doing an exceptional job and has integrated himself into the club very well.”

“So I would say that the work done by Marotta and Ausilio has brought us to the current set-up which is producing results,” he explained. “The season is long, we await the final outcome before expressing any judgments.”

“It was expected that the character and desire of this team, which last year came out of the most difficult moments, was still in the DNA of the structure,” the CEO continued. “And so it was. The guysstarted very well, the performance against Real was great and we are confident about continuing well for the rest of the season.”

Of the poor start by predicted title rivals Juventus, Antonello said, “It is a unique moment, they have time to recover because the seasonhas just begun. We are waiting for the end of the season to take stock.”
