Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal has sustained a strain to his right calf muscle, which is currently keeping him on the sidelines.

This according to an update on the midfielder’s fitness from the Nerazzurri’s official site, which confirms that this is the injury which kept the 34-year-old out of Inter’s match against Bologna over the weekend.

Vidal will be examined again in the coming days to get a better idea of when he will be able to make his return to the pitch, but at the moment it appears very unlikely that he will be back in time to be selected for tomorrow’s trip to Tuscany to face Fiorentina.

Vidal missed substantial portions of the second half of last season through injury after having been a regular feature in the team during the early parts of the campaign, and he will hope that injuries will not be a theme for him once again this time around.
