Former Inter striker Christian Vieri believes that the Nerazzurri’s attack can remain strong despite the departure of Romelu Lukaku thanks to the arrival of important summer signings.

Speaking on his Twitch stream, as reported by FCInterNews, Vieri gave the view that the Belgian’s goal haul can be replaced by new arrivals Edin Dzeko and Joaquin Correa who are both off to a good start.

Lukaku’s departure to join Chelsea at the beginning of August sent shockwaves through the Nerazzurri, with the 28-year-old having been a key contributor to last season’s Scudetto triumph having led the team in both goals and assists.

Replacing a player of the Belgian’s quality would never be a straightforward task, let alone doing so within the Nerazzurri’s financial restrictions which were well-known.

However, Dzeko and Correa have already shown their qualities in abundance since their arrivals from Roma and Lazio respectively, and Vieri believes that between them the pair can help the club get past the loss of Lukaku’s goals.

“Inter are still the strongest, they must win the Scudetto,” he said. “In attack they lost Lukaku but signed Dzeko and Correa who will score the goals that the Belgian did. I see a great Inter, but also a great Milan.”

Of the Nerazzurri’s disappointing Champions League loss against Real Madrid Vieri said, “Inter did very well in the first half against Real Madrid, but then they lost in the Champions League having also failed to win in the league. Then Bologna is a good team, it’s never easy to play against them.”

And on whether Inter striker Lautaro Martinez could hit a goal tally of 25-30 this season, he said that “If he takes penalties, yes.”
