Inter manager Simone Inzaghi has given updates about his squad ahead of this evening’s Serie A clash with Fiorentina, explaining that he is happy with the players at his disposal but wants to rotate the team to keep players fresh.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN prior to kickoff, the 45-year-old explained that he has decided to rest Denzel Dumfries after a tiring match against Bologna over the weekend but that the Dutchman is still an important player.

Dumfries made his first start in an Inter shirt against the Rossoblu on Saturday, and he put in a strong performance which led many to believe that he would be given another chance to start this evening’s match at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

However, the coach has decided against this, preferring Matteo Darmian on the right as he looks to keep all his players in good condition and not risk exhaustion from playing too much.

Of the match, he said that “It is important to score a lot, we’ve started out with a lot of goals – sometimes it happens as against Real that you fail to score, but agaisnt Bologna we made a difficult match seem simple.”

On the choice to rest Dumfries he said, “Simple rotation, Saturday against Bologna I made four changes, today the freshest ones are back – there is rotation and we need to find the best solutions.”

And of summer signing Hakan Calhanoglu he said, “I’m happy, he’s a great player who works every day to improve – he started very well, and he can do even better.”
