Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga has praised current Nerazzurri head coach Simone Inzaghi, who he believes is the right man to lead the club and has more than shown the right qualities.

Speaking to the program Tiki Taka on Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, the former keeper gave the view that Inzaghi’s time as manager of Lazio showed that he is a top coach and that he can thrive.

Zenga himself has had a long coaching career after his retirement from playing, with spells at Sampdoria, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Crotone among the clubs he’s taken charge of.

Given his strong links to the Nerazzurri, Zenga would very much like to one day be head coach of his former club, but as he explains, he has not been able to demonstrate what Inzaghi has already, and the former Lazio coach is undoubtedly more qualified for the role than he is.

“I lack those five years of experience at Lazio, a major club,” he explained. “Staying there for five years, with a demanding president like Lotito, in that position there, is something extraordinary. Simone’s merit was to arrive in Milan at the best moment of his career.”
