Former striker Giampaolo Pazzini believes that Inter did well to keep their composure in difficult circumstances in yesterday evening’s 3-1 win over Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the Serie A clash, the 37-year-old gave his impression of a match in which the Nerazzurri produced a strong response to going a goal down to take three vital points from their trip top Tuscany.

Inter were outplayed during the opening stages of the match, deservedly going in at the interval a goal down to a frenetic display by Vincenzo Italiano’s men.

The question of how the team could respond to adversity was posed in a way that hadn’t been in the previous match where Simone Inzaghi’s team always looked to be in control during an emphatic win over Bologna.

However, in the second half a different Nerazzurri came out, responding to the difficulties of the first half not by caving in but instead by searching for and finding a foothold in the game to come back and win.

“Inter in the first half was dominated by Fiorentina,” Pazzini stated, “but Inter remained on track aware that  La Viola could drop off, and of their own potential. They hoped to come out later. They remained calm and concentrated – it is maturity that served them well.”

“Inzaghi has many choices,” he went on, “especially in attack. Dzeko and Lautaro start ahead of everyone, but the Nerazzurri coach can also rotate according to the opposition. Now the levels are very balanced – I don’t think there will be a team that will kill the championship.”
