Fiorentina wing-back Cristiano Biraghi praised the quality of Inter after his side fell to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Nerazzurri yesterday evening at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Speaking to La Viola’s official social media channel, the Fiorentina captain suggested that his team were punished for defensive mistakes because their opponents on the night were a top team.

Inter were put under strong pressure by La Viola in the first half of yesterday evening’s match, but in the end they were able to turn it around in the second half with an expansive and clinical comeback to hand the Tuscans their second defeat of the season.

Biraghi was disappointed to have suffered the defeat but saw it as more a matter of the Nerazzurri showing their quality than of La Viola  putting in a poor performance.

The 29-year-old spoke about not always having been clinical in his team’s other matches, but stated that “The other times we did not pay for it, this time we did because Inter are Italian champions and they are a great team.”
