Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella may have suffered an injury to his right thigh during the Nerazzurri’s match against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi yesterday.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 24-year-old had to put an ice pack on his thigh after coming onto the bench after being substituted during the second half of the Serie A clash.

Barella was removed from the pitch in the seventieth minute of the match, with Matias Vecino coming on in his place, and it was initially unclear what the reason for the substitution was, whether manager Simone Inzaghi intended to have the midfielder a rest or whether the substitution was tactical.

Barella was not in any serious discomfort when he came off, and he was able to take his place on the bench, but given that he had applied ice to his thigh there could be an issue, and the Nerazzurri medical staff will be monitoring the issue in the days before the clash with Atalanta over the weekend.
