Inter wing-back Ivan Perisic has come in for praise in Italian media for his performance against Fiornetina in the Nerazzurri’s comeback win at the Stadio Artemio Franchi yesterday evening.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport deem the Croat to have been the Nerazzurri’s Man of the Match in their player ratings, awarding him a grade of 7.5/10.

Perisic looked lively throughout, he never stopped running, and he gave out-of-position Viola right-back Marco Benassi in particular a hard time throughout before capping off his performance with a goal.

The 32-year-old arguably should have done better to hold his run onside in the Nerazzurri’s first-half equalizer but he linked up with compatriot Marcelo Brozovic well on a few occasions and his application could not be called into question.

Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic received the same score as the Croat, 7.5/10, with the Slovenian having responded to criticism aimed at some of his some of his recent performances with a fine display, especially in the first half where he kept his team in the match with a string of top saves to restrict an impressive Fiorentina to just one goal.

Elsewhere in the Gazzetta’s player ratings for the Serie A clash, Marcelo Brozovic and Edin Dzeko received 7/10 scores, while Matteo Darmian, Niccolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Denzel Dumfires and Roberto Gagliardini all received 6.5/10.

6/10 scores were given to the likes of Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij, and substitutes Matias Vecino and Alexis Sanchez, while the Gazzetta deemed Lautaro Martinez and Alessandro Bastoni to be the Nerazzurri’s two least effective players on 5.5/10 scores.

Manager Simone Inzaghi was given a grade of 7/10 for a match in which his team were outplayed to begin with and some of his initial team selections were not working, but tweaks throughout the match and a strong mentality saw his side through to an important comeback victory.
