Roma head coach Jose Mourinho believes that his team have ground to make up on Inter given the respective strengths shown by the two teams last season.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the Giallorossi’s Serie A clash with Udinese, as reported by FCInter1908, the Portuguese tactician gave the view that his side cannot expect everything to go their own way from the off given the level that they have started from.

Since arriving in the Italian capital Mourinho has stressed that he expects his project with Roma to take some time to really show its full potential, but his team have nevertheless been one of the most in-form starters in Serie A, taking nine points from nine and playing stylish football to start the season.

In their most recent match against Hellas Verona, however, they showed a vulnerability to lose 3-2 in a tough away match, even surrendering a lead.

The former Inter boss believes that this shows the difference between Roma’s situation and that of his former club the Nerazzurri, stating that “You saw me celebrate like a madman after a special victory like the one against Sassuolo because it was my thousandth game as coach and then because we won in the 90th minute, you only saw me joyous for a minute and then you always saw me balanced, I always said that Rome starts 29 points behind Inter and now you won’t see me pessimistic after a lost game.”
