Ex-Inter and Atalanta midfielder Pietro Fanna has suggested that Simone Inzaghi is doing well with this Inter team given the players that were sold, according to a report in the Italian print media.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport ahead of Inter’s match against Atalanta on Saturday evening, Pietro Fanna explained that Simone Inzaghi needs to create a team that works well together and compliments each other rather than rely on star names.

“Dzeko is very different from Lukaku. Hakimi was a top player. But beyond the individuals, I believe that the key for Inzaghi is to create a group that plays well together.

“He seems to be on the right track. Also because he has found players who have acquired great awareness after the Scudetto. They know how to win.”

As for whether the Nerazzurri can win the Scudetto again, Pietro Fanna believes that the competition is a lot more fierce than it was last season.

“I think there will be great balance, the level has risen. AC Milan, Atalanta, AS Roma and Napoli will annoy Barella and his associates.”

When discussing Inter’s form so far this season, he highlighted the tough match against Hellas Verona as a low point, but focused on the immense positives from the comeback win against Fiorentina.

“I saw Inter in the match they won in Verona. They didn’t make a super performance, they risked conceding a second goal, then with quality and experience, they got away with it.

“The victory in Florence is much more important. Vincenzo Italiano is good. I know him well having trained together in Verona.”

On the match itself between his two former teams on Saturday evening, Pietro Fanna explained that the team who keep their concentration the longest will take the points.

“Those who do not lose concentration even for a moment will prevail. With Dzeko and Lautaro perhaps Inter are stronger in attack, but Atalanta’s pace is difficult to sustain.”
