An ex-Italian footballer has suggested that Inter are still the most likely to win the Serie A title this season despite the difficult summer of financial issues, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking to 1 Station Radio, as reported by FcINternews, Beppe Dossena explained that Inter are still the favourites because the sales of key players spurred the remaining stars on to prove they are still capable of greatness.

“For me, Inter is still the favourite for the Scudetto. Lukaku and Hakimi’s farewells conveyed pride and competitive malice to the other players.

“There was the will in these guys to show that Inter was not just Lukaku.”

The ex-Torino and Sampdoria midfielder also added that Inter did well to sign players that fit well with Simone Inzaghi, who has bought a pleasant simplicity to the situation at Inter.

“Inzaghi brought simplicity in giving orders and his way of playing. They didn’t make huge operations, but they went to get ideal players from the new coach.

“Their market was not easy due to financial problems, but having a manager of Marotta’s experience and personality helped.”

Beppe Dossena also added that he think Juventus are already out of the Scudetto race as they have only managed one win in their first five matches of the season.

He was clear though that Juventus have shown before that they should never be written off.

“To date, I would exclude Juventus from the Scudetto race, but then this team taught us that even with bad starts they managed to recover.”
