The number of players that Inter have in central midfield means that Marcelo Brozovic can be rested occasionally to keep him fresh, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported today by Tuttosport, Nicolo Barella can move into the centre of the midfield three when the Croatian needs to be rested.

That means Inter’s overall quality in that area will not be hindered. Then one of Arturo Vidal, Matias Vecino, or Roberto Gagliardini can all fill in on the right hand side of the midfield three which is where Nicolo Barella tends to play.

This thought process means it is highly unlikely, injury depending, that both Nicolo Barella and Marcelo Brozovic will ever be on the bench together for Inter.

Arturo Vidal appears to be the most popular of those three replacement midfielders so far after some very promising early season performances from the Chilean midfielder.
