A former Inter striker has claimed that the Nerazzurri were very lucky to come away from the match against Fiorentina with a victory, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking whilst on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, Bobo TV, Antonio Cassano explained that matches last 90 minutes and that both teams did not perform well for the entire game, only for half the match.

Inter were very poor in the first half and should have been more than one goal down, but Fiorentina did not maintain the intensity after the break which allowed Inter to make a comeback and win the game 3-1.

“The matches last 90 minutes, not 45. Fiorentina should have had a two or three goal advantage in the first half with Inter.

“Inter did the same thing in the second half and in fact the Nerazzurri scored three goals, because when they restarted they really hurt Fiorentina.

“The result is very harsh, Fiorentina did not deserve a defeat like this, they were also unlucky.”

Antonio Cassano then explained that when teams can sense that an opponent is weakening and getting tired, that is the time to strike and raise the intensity.

This is exactly what happened to Inter in the Champions League match against Real Madrid where they lost 1-0 thanks to a very late goal.

“When you smell the blood, you have to bite. Inter did with Fiorentina what Real Madrid had done.

“I liked Inter much less than the other times, but they always play the same players since the beginning of the season. It is a super lucky victory in Florence.”
