Inter are attempting to tie Marcelo Brozovic down to a new contract as soon as possible and are optimistic that a deal will be done soon, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by Il Giornale, Marcelo Brozovic has continued to show his worth to the team this season with a string of commanding performances in the midfield.

Simone Inzaghi is desperate to see the Croatian sign a new deal and all parties appear confident that it will happen soon. The only issue is agreeing on the wage as Inter must be careful not to inflate the wage budget too greatly.

The player and his entourage are aware that in comparison to others in the squad and their contributions to the team, Marcelo Brozovic is underpaid.

He currently earns €3.5 million a season, which is €2.5 million less than Hakan Calhanoglu who only joined the team in the summer.
