Legendary former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta heaped praise on Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella following his performance in the Nerazzurri’s draw with Atalanta at the San Siro this evening.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the match, the Rossoneri legend compared the 24-year-old’s performance to the best of PSG and former Barcelona star Neymar in terms of the quality and impact he displayed.

Barella assisted Lautaro Martinez’s early opener with an excellent curling delivery into the box, and never looked back, combining endless running and energy with an eye-catching range of creative passing up until he was substituted off late in the match.

The former Cagliari man stood out on an evening when both sides had multiple players who showed great flair and ability, putting in a hugely impactful performance even by his own standards of this season.

Costacurta was hugely impressed, and compared him to the PSG star, stating that “At times it seemed like that’s who he was, playing clearly like a player who could be in all the greatest teams in the world.”
