Former Inter and current Italy head coach Roberto Mancini believes that Napoli have the qualities to make a serious impression at the top of the Serie A table this season.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster TG Poste, as reported by FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri manager gave his predictions on the Serie A season, singling out the Partenopei as one of the teams who are particularly well-poised for a strong season amid fierce competition among Italy’s top teams.
Napoli have gotten off to a flying start under former Nerazzurri boss Luciano Spalletti, winning five matches from five to preserve the only perfect start left in Serie A.
Inter and AC Milan are only two points behind Spalletti’s men in the table, while other strong teams remain well within catching distance of the Partenopei.
However, Napoli have not only collected maximum points already but also done so in some style, and Mancini believes that they could have a special season.
“It is normal that there is a bit of balance at the beginning, many players have played in the European Championships and Copa America,” he said. “They did not arrive in great condition, I think it takes some time.”
He went on, “I think it could be a very balanced season until the end, the revelation could be Napoli. At this moment they have started well, in my opinion they have been a strong team for some time. ”
Mancini also mentioned Inter’s opponents for this evening as potential candidates at the top of the table in the form of Atalanta, stating that “They have been in the top portion of the table for years. I hope it is a very competitive championship between different teams.”
