Inter are in long term talks with Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana with a view to bringing him in on a free transfer next summer when his contract with his current club expires.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reported on Twitter that the 25-year-old has been blocked by the Nerazzurri for a long time.

Inter are in search of a long-term successor to Samir Handanovic in goal with the Slovenian currently 37 years old, and Onana has been reported as one of the major targets in their search.

The Cameroonian is out of contract with the Dutch champions at the end of June 2022, and should he not agree on an extension before then he could be brought in next summer without a transfer fee.

No agreement has been reached as of yet, but Di Marzio reports that the Nerazzurri have been serious about the player for a while.

Di Marzio stated that news of Onana will come “When the announcements can be formalized, the player has been blocked for some time as mentioned several times, you will remember.”
