Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni believes that the Nerazzurri will have to work hard in their match against Atalanta at the San Siro this evening.

Speaking to Inter TV ahead of the match, the 22-year-old praised the qualities of Gian Piero Gasperini’s side and made clear that he expects a tough match.

Inter head into their sixth Serie A fixture, and La Dea are potentially the strongest side that they’ve faced so far, posing a serious test of their credentials at the top end of the table after four wins and one draw so far.

The Nerazzurri will know that they have the qualities to take three points from the encounter, but they will also know that if they are not at their best then Gasperini’s men will have no trouble punishing them and that they must find solutions to a team who have earned a place in the top four in each of the last three seasons.

Bastoni said that he is expecting “A tough match like all the ones we have had against them in recent years. They are a well-drilled team, they know how to play by memory – they have been playing together for 6 years. It will be a very complicated game.”

He went on, “They will be aggressive as usual; we will have to be good at defending and then hurt them when we can.”

On whether he would like to score a goal he said, “I hope so. My goal is to defend but if it  the opportunity comes I would be very satisfied with a goal.”

“We are concentrated and used to playing many games,” he concluded on balancing this evening’s fixture with the Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk during the wekk, “We are focused on Atalanta.”
