Ex-Italy striker Luca Toni has been praising the strike partnership that Inter has of Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking on the Gazza Talk podcast which is part of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Luca Toni explained that the two strikers have a really strong partnership.

“Dzeko started strong, but Lautaro too can have a great season. In my opinion, Inter with Dzeko and Lautaro have a very strong pairing.”

He also spoke more specifically about the Bosnian forward who has scored four goals in his opening five Serie A matches since joining Inter from AS Roma.

It is clear that Luca Toni is impressed by his ability to link play from the midfielders, but feels he needs to be a bit more ruthless in front of goal.

“He is a great striker because, in addition to scoring goals he plays very well for the team, he binds the game a lot. The only flaw is that he is not always precise in front of goal.”

Inter are currently the highest scoring team in Serie A this season having netted 18 times in their first five games. The next best team in that respect is Napoli but they are still four goals behind the Nerazzurri.
