Inter dropped points for the first time in almost a calendar year at home in the Serie A after a 4 goal thriller ended 2-2 against Atalanta.

The Nerazzurri opened the game very strongly thanks to a dreamgoal but conceded 2 quick ones, where the second came after questionable goalkeeping to say the least.

Inter did well to come back into the game midway through the second half after Simone Inzaghi made a three substitutions which all made the difference. Unfortunately, in the end Inter failed to make their chances pay, missing a penalty as well.

Samir Handanovic – 4,5: It is simply not working anymore. Gifted Atalanta their 2nd goal as well as what would have been 3rd had VAR not correctly ruled it out.

Milan Skriniar – 5,5: Struggled throughout the game and was uncharacteristically passive, especially in the first half when Atalanta equalized.

Stefan De Vrij – 6: The best out of the three defenders today, highlighting his elegance and ability to remain calm in difficult situations.

Alessandro Bastoni – 5,5: Not the youngsters best match and one he would like to forget about pretty quickly. Brought off in 57th minute for Dimarco.

Matteo Darmian – 5,5: Similar game against Atalanta as against Fiorentina midweek: struggled in both phases but unable to score today to redeem himself.

Nicolo Barella – 8: Outstanding from start to finish. His crosses reek havoc every time. Best midfielder of the Serie A and it’s not even close. 5th assist.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6,5: Strange game for the Croatian midfield playmaker who is such an important player for the Nerazzurri in both phases.

Hakan Calhanoglu – 5: Currently incompatible with Brozovic, just like Eriksen was but lacks the quality and consistency the Danish midfielder has. Subbed off.

Ivan Perisic – 5,5: Runs a lot up and down the left flank but struggles to make it pay as there’s always something lacking: be it final touch, pass or shot.

Lautaro Martinez – 7: Scored a dream-goal in the opening minutes of the game & continued with a good performance but still misses far too many chances.

Edin Dzeko – 6,5: Got 1 goal but should have had at least 2 more when missing a couple of sitters in both halves but makes up for it by working hard.

Matias Vecino – 6: Brought on in 57th min replacing a disappointing Calhanoglu. Right now, he must start as midfield better balanced with him in it.

Federico Dimarco – 6: Subbed on in 57th minute for Bastoni. Provides excellent set pieces and crosses but missed a penalty, blasting it off the crossbar.

Denzel Dumfries – 6,5: Came on in the 57th minute and showed once again why fans and pundits alike think he should be a starter. Must start moving forward.

Alexis Sanchez – N/A: Replaced Lautaro in the 81st minute & looked rusty but still managed to provide a great cross in stoppage time which Dzeko squandered.

Martin Satriano – N/A: Was brought on in 90th minute when Barella was exhausted and Simone Inzaghi threw the kitchen sink at Atalanta.

Simone Inzaghi – 6,5: Inter started well but lost control completely halfway through 1st half. Subs good. Has to address Calhanoglu & Handanovic situations.

Fabio Maresca – 7: The high rating is for VAR who got every important situation absolutely spot on. Maresca started game shaky but worked well into it.

Inter – 6,5: An inconsistent performance by the Nerazzurri whose highs are very high but the lows are unacceptably low. Need to be more balanced.
