Former Fiorentina and AC Milan midfielder Riccardo Montoloivo believes that Inter’s draw against Atalanta yesterday showed the attacking quality and excitement of Serie A.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN, the former Rossoneri captain gave the view that the 2-2 draw played out at the San Siro yesterday evening showed how dramatic the Italian top flight can be.

Inter both led and trailed in an encounter where they shared the points with Gian Piero Gasperini’s men, and the scoreline was more than reflected by an intense match in which both sides had strong periods.

The Nerazzurri missed a late penalty which would have won the match, while La Dea had a late winner ruled out by VAR after it was determined that the ball had gone out of play, moments after the missed spot kick.

Both sides will be happy with the quality of their performances at points if not entirely happy with the result, but the match was certainly full of event for the spectator.

“Two strong teams that have faced each other head-on in an advertisement for our Serie A,” Montolivo said after the match.” Inzaghi has included Dimarco among the defenders, a more offensive player behind, a 2-2 scoreline was played out.”

On Dimarco’s missed penalty Montolivo said, “Certainly there are hierarchies, he has shown personality, I feel sorry for him for the mistake.”
