Fiorentina midfielder Lucas Torreira believes that his team played well in the first half against Inter but that they were not able to sustain the same pace of the game during the second half of the match.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after La Viola’s 1-0 win over Udinese, the Uruguayan reflected on the 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Nerazzurri and gave the view that their drop-off in the second half was what ultimately decided the match.

Inter had trouble living with Fiorentina’s frenetic pressing during the first half of their match against La Viola at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Tuesday, and they deservedly went in at the interval a goal behind.

However, Vincenzo Italiano’s men were not able to play during the second half the same way that they did during the first, with the Nerazzurri quickly gaining control of the match.

For Torreira, this reflects the fact that their energy levels dropped after a tiring first half, and that this allowed the Nerazzurri to play the game at the pace they wanted to.

“We have suffered during the second half of games,” the midfielder said, “we had a great first half against Inter, then we lowered our intensity and paid a lot for it.”
