Inter defender Federico Dimarco will be disappointed to have missed a penalty to potentially win his side the match in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Atalanta at the San Siro, but he otherwise gave a good account of himself.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who deem the 23-year-old’s display after coming on during the second half to have been “almost perfect” apart from the miss from the spot.
Dimarco’s shot on target was parried into the path of Edin Dzeko by La Dea goalkeeper Juan Musso for the Nerazzurri’s all-important equalizer, and in general his performance was full of energy and showed how he is capable of putting teams under pressure with his accurate left foot.
The 23-year-old stepped up to take the spot kick which had been awarded for a Merih Demiral handball in the box, with the likes of regular penalty takers Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu having left the pitch.
His effort struck the crossbar rather than finding the back of the net, but the young defender nevertheless enjoyed the support of his teammates and the fans, reflecting his commitment and the quality of his contributions even in spite of the decisive miss.
