Inter’s defensive issues have been glaringly on show in their last couple matches and must be addressed soon, according to Italian journalist Fabio Ravezzani.

The journalist tweeted after yesterday’s 2-2 draw against Atalanta at the San Siro that the Nerazzurri were not at a high enough level defensively and that they would have to fix the problems which they demonstrated.

Inter both led and trailed in a frenetic, back-and-forth match which saw both sides show attacking quality and intent, while both defenses creaked at times as they exchanged sequences of intense pressure and fast-paced counter-attacks.

The match entertained virtually from first minute to last, with two late incidents of VAR drama leading each side to believe that they were on the brink of three massive points.

When the smoke clears, however, Ravezzani believes that the Nerazzurri will have to improve defensively after showing vulnerability to concede twice in a match where Gian Piero Gasperini’s men could well have scored more.

He tweeted, “Fireworks at San Siro where we saw everything and the opposite of everything. Inzaghi fixed Inter with the changes, Gasperini instead made Atalanta worse. It must be said, however, that Inter suffers too much when defending (see also Fiorentina) . This is something to be corrected quickly.”
