Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin has declared that the 2-2 draw between Inter and Atalanta yesterday evening at the San Siro was “surreal” and a good point for the Nerazzurri.

Biasin tweeted after the match that the Serie A clash had been great entertainment full of drama but that, when all is said and done, the result was acceptable for Inter given the circumstances.

Inter both led and trailed in a match which saw them get off to a flying start before succumbing to an intense Atalanta performance, and they had to haul back the deficit in the second deficit, which they deservedly did.

The 2-2 scoreline is just about reflective of the contributions of both teams in a match which was fast-paced and back-and-forth, but it does not tell the story of a game which saw great attacking play, spectacular individual goals, and some dubious defending and goalkeeping.

Moreover, there was late drama which had no bearing on the final scoreline in the end but saw VAR called into action twice to create an emotional rollercoaster for both sides who will have believed they were on the brink of victory.

Biasin’s take after the match was that it was a “Surreal match, fun, adrenaline-pumping, decidedly ‘messy.’ Inter could have won , Atalanta could have won, it ends up at the right result. Many will disagree, but this is a good point. Strength and courage.”
