Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has come in for criticism for failing to create more clear chances for his teammates since his arrival from AC Milan during the summer.

Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica single the 27-year-old out for not providing the Nerazzurri’s strikers with sufficient service.

Calhanoglu has shown some of what he was brought in for in the Nerazzurri’s first six Serie A matches of the season, but he has not created chances at a rate befitting his reputation.

The Turk was not able to turn moments of possession in key areas into assists during the Nerazzurri’s clash with Atalanta at the San Siro, and the responsibility fell to fellow midfielder Nicolo Barella whose deliveries looked sharp throughout the match.

For La Repubblica, the former Rossoneri man has shown no lack of application or energy in his running and efforts to win the ball back, but he has not yet found his radar creatively, which is a problem as this is a big part of what he was signed for.
